Office Staffing

Central Oregon Veterans Outreach is a volunteer-run organization.  Our board of directors are all volunteers and our office could not run without volunteer assistance.  You can help us by volunteering to staff our office and help with this projects:  Provide outreach services to homeless veterans who come to our offices by providing them with food, clothing, shoes, boots, tents, backpacks, survival gear and other camping supplies from our on-site storage room; assisting us in the operation of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Shuttle Reservation Service that we operate from our offices; answering the telephone and providing assistance or referring veterans to the appropriate agency or office for further assistance; distributing bus passes to homeless veterans; assisting homeless veterans in getting their mail, getting documents copied or faxed and/or using our offices to make important telephone calls; and many other in-office opportunities to help.

Homeless Outreach

We provide assistance to those who are homeless at shelters, motels, churches and other locations within the community.  We also deliver water, food, clothing, camping and survival gear directly to homeless camps of our area.  You can help us by volunteering to provide these services.

Healthcare Outreach Project (Medical Van)

Medical Providers of all Levels – We need medical providers to go shelters, motels, churches and to the camps where those who are homeless gather or live.  Our healthcare outreach project goes where the need is greatest.

Drivers for the van – We need volunteers to drive the van as part of our healthcare outreach project.

Veterans Service Office Assistance

We help veterans file disability claims for VA pensions and disability payments.  We also help veterans who are receiving disability payments seek increased awards.  We also help veterans who have been denied disability claims or pensions appeal those denials within the VA so they can receive the payments they have earned due to their military service.  You can help our Veterans Service Officers in assisting veterans on these cases and learn to be a VSO yourself.

Other Opportunities for Assistance

We can use help with fundraising, grant writing, helping us tell our story to the public, keeping our web page maintained, helping write our newsletters, etc.
